How to Brew Chemex Coffee

Chemex:

  1. Bring filtered water to a boil and let sit for 30 seconds, obtaining a temperature between 195 and 205 degrees
  2. Place a filter into the Chemex with the fold on the same side as the spout
  3. Wet the filter
  4. Scoop fresh, drip ground coffee into the Chemex
  5. Bloom your coffee by pouring just enough water to wet the grounds. Use one tablespoon per 5oz of brewed coffee.
  6. Wait 30 seconds. Slowly add the rest of your water into the Chemex.
  7. Try to pour at a rate that takes 3-5 minutes for all the water to pass through, depending on which size Chemex is used.
  8. Pour your coffee and enjoy!

Every Chemex “cup” is 5 oz. There are several assorted sizes Chemex brewers and you can brew many different amounts of coffee in any given one. We recommend you experiment with the ratio of coffee to water to find the best cup for you.
